Work commences on latest SGP-designed units at the popular Infinity Park, Derby

Stephen George + Partners (SGP) is pleased to see construction progressing on a new warehouse facility for DHL at Infinity Park Derby, where the steel frame has now been erected and cladding installation is well underway, following the successful planning approval secured for the units earlier this year. 

Plot B1 is a 194,375 sqft B8 warehouse including office space, mezzanines and gatehouse. Both plots include external yards, parking, photovoltaics, SuDs drainage, landscaping, engineering works and site access. 

Says Chris Webster, Studio Director at SGP: “We have already been working with Infinity Park Derby LLP and several end users to design and deliver outstanding buildings such as the Infinity Prototyping Centre and a bespoke production facility and warehouse for Oregon Timber Frame Ltd. In keeping with this outstanding track record at Infinity Park Derby, we are delighted to see these latest two units start on site These new buildings will conform to a previously agreed set of design parameters, developing clear technical objectives and specifications to inform the overall look and feel of the site.” 

The warehouse on Plot B1 has been designed to suit DHL’s operational requirements and their extensive fit-out works. The unit will have an 18m haunch height, two level access doors and 21 loading docks with variable ramps and shelters, two of which are Euro docks to suit double decked trailers. The service yard wraps around the building and there is an additional dock area with three pod loading docks serving the internal chilled storage area of the unit. 

The unit is targeting EPC A and BREEAM Excellent ratings and include a provision for photovoltaic panels. 

The plans include an important new wetland ecosystem to link with existing extensive green space on the park, improving bio-diversity and climate resilience on the site and supporting physical and mental well-being for staff and visitors alike. In addition to planting native trees and hedgerows and grassland areas, the proposals include a range of peripheral habitats including surface water attenuation lagoons and swales. 

Infinity Park Derby is a unique collaboration between Derby City Council, the Harper Crewe Estate, Rolls-Royce, developers IPD LLP, Wilson Bowden and Peveril Securities, and is located near to the existing manufacturing facilities of Rolls Royce, Toyota, JCB and Alstom.
