Tariq Khan joins Prologis and George Clarke for episode two of Logistics Unboxed
What makes a logistics park feel like a place, rather than a collection of buildings? In episode two of Prologis UK’s Logistics Unboxed series, Stephen George + Partners (SGP) Studio Director Tariq Khan joins architect and television presenter George Clarke to discuss the design thinking behind DIRFT.
The episode explores the design thinking that has helped shape DIRFT, one of the UK’s leading logistics parks. Tariq explains how each building can be individual in its own right while contributing to a coherent architectural language through the considered use of materials and colour.
The discussion also examines the importance of placemaking and wellbeing in creating better environments for occupiers, their workforces and the wider community. Connections to the landscape, thoughtfully designed spaces between buildings, adaptable amenity areas and roof gardens demonstrate an approach that considers the overall experience of those who use the development.
Drawing on the latest development activity at DIRFT, including for M&S Food, XPO Logistics and Laura James, Tariq highlights how challenging convention and exploring new ideas continue to raise the standard of logistics design at DIRFT.
