Project completes at Milton Keynes sustainable commercial scheme
Stephen George + Partners (SGP) is delighted to announce the completion of two sustainable commercial buildings in Milton Keynes, delivering significant new inward investment and employment space for the city. SGP collaborated with client Hampton Brook on the two units located at Shenley Wood, just off Childs Way (H6).
The development comprises two units of approximately 72,000 sqft each on a 2.9-hectare (7.3-acre) infill site designated for employment use. In addition to the main units, the project includes ancillary office accommodation; alterations to and the creation of new highway accesses; car parking, service yards and extensive photovoltaics on the roof; and a comprehensive landscaping strategy with dedicated areas for staff welfare. The scheme continues the established development of employment and residential uses along the H6, within close proximity to Milton Keynes Railway Station and the city centre.
Contractors Wilten Construction delivered one unit for Routeco, one of the UK’s leading distributors of industrial automation and control products, with the second completed on a speculative basis.
Kenny Leadbeater, Associate at SGP said “It’s great to see this scheme completed and fully realised on site. We are pleased to have worked again with Hampton Brook, despite initial difficulties in getting the site off the ground, the project that delivers high-quality employment space, supports the growth of an established local company and creates new job opportunities for the region. The design of these industrial units responds to current market demands and the specific context of the site, with sustainability embedded throughout. The buildings are targeting Net Carbon Zero, BREEAM Excellent and an EPC A+ rating.”
Shenley Wood is the latest addition to Hampton Brook’s extensive portfolio of warehouse and industrial, office and bespoke developments, with over 6 million sqft delivered to date and more than 4 million sqft currently in the pipeline.
