Sustainable development completes in Walsall

Stephen George + Partners (SGP) has delivered 33 affordable dwellings for clients Keon Homes and GreenSquareAccord on a brownfield site adjacent to the Wyrley and Essington Canal, Walsall. Built sustainably using an off-site pre-fabricated timber frame system, the mix of 18 apartments and 15 town houses sits in an area of strong residential development and has been designed to meet local market needs.

SGP worked closely with them and developer Keon Homes to complete this attractive, contemporary development. GreenSquareAccord have now added the finished homes to their portfolio.”
The construction used the LoCaL Homes Eco-200 off-site closed timber panel system. Thermally efficient materials and a ‘Fabric First’ philosophy reduced embodied carbon and will save on fuel bills in the future through better thermal performance and air tightness. A mechanical ventilation system with heat recovery features was installed, improving the internal air quality for the tenants. The external wall panels were finished with a brick slip system, giving a quality feel to the entire development as well as improving the buildability and construction time of the project.
