Start on Site for latest unit at Panattoni Park Sittingbourne

Stephen George + Partners (SGP) is pleased to announce the start on site of a 58,000 sqft (total GIA) warehouse unit at Panattoni Park Sittingbourne, Kent. The unit will join two warehouse/logistics buildings of 205,000 and 440,000 sqft, currently onsite at the popular park, situated just minutes from the M2 motorway.
Explains Marcus Madden-Smith, Partner at SGP: “Panattoni is a long-standing client, and, for the new unit, we were tasked with adapting designs approved under a historical planning permission, to bring them in line with modern logistics needs and the Panattoni brand standard.”
SGP’s designs keep the approved graduation of colour in the cladding but use a greyscale palette with gentle Sargasso blue elements to better reflect Panattoni’s branding. A white ‘goalpost’ design on the main elevations reduces the visual mass of the building and the office design has been altered to suit the new treatment.
Continues Joseph Silva, Principal Architect at SGP: “In addition to establishing a coherent, brand sensitive design across the park, our challenge was to reconfigure areas such as the service yard to better meet modern user needs. Part of our strength is being abreast of the latest trends in the industry and our focus on applying that knowledge to our designs, delivering better buildings for our client, tenants and future users.”
All 3 units, including unit 4 which Panattoni has recently signed a pre-lease agreement with DPD, meets Panattoni’s enhanced environmental, social, and governance (ESG) standards, including being Net Zero Carbon in development, fully PV and EV enabled, and targeting EPC ‘A’ and BREEAM ‘Excellent’ ratings.
The contractor for units 2 and 3 is Winvic Construction Ltd, and practical completion is expected in the New Year.
Covering an area of approximately 9.11 acres, Panattoni Park Sittingbourne is situated approximately four miles from Junction 5 of the M2 motorway, making it an attractive location for logistics operators. The site has excellent connections to local, national and European markets due to its close proximity to key distribution networks including the M2, M25, M20, London Thamesport, Dover and the port of Tilbury.
