SGP completes York Hospital ward refurbishments
Stephen George + Partners (SGP) has completed a £7 million project at York Hospital on behalf of York and Scarborough Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. The work involved the refurbishment of three upgraded wards and room updates across five others, covering a total area of approximately 1800 sqm, and was delivered within a 12-month timeframe.
Babor Qureshi, Principal Architect at SGP commented: “The project brought with it a number of opportunities to demonstrate flexibility and problem-solving. With a tight schedule and limited historical information on the existing building, our team was able to adapt quickly and find solutions. We produced full drawing packages through a combination of onsite investigation, technical expertise and a collaborative approach, ensuring progress was maintained throughout.”
SGP provided architectural services and acted as CDM Principal Designer. The works were delivered by contractors Twenty Five and Geoffrey Robinson.
The refurbished wards provide York Hospital with modernised facilities that will support both patient care and staff wellbeing. Delivering numerous ward refurbishments in a live hospital environment within a demanding timeframe demonstrates SGP’s ability to work flexibly and effectively in complex healthcare settings.
This project adds to SGP’s healthcare portfolio and highlights our capability in delivering high quality refurbishment schemes that enhance outcomes for clients and their communities.
