Docks 3, 4 & 5 at Space City Leicester Win Sustainability Award

Docks 3, 4 and 5 at Space City, Leicester has been recognised with the Sustainability Award at this year’s Insider Media East Midlands Property Awards. We are proud that this achievement celebrates the positive impact of the project and the strength of the team behind it.
Commissioned by Brackley Property Developments Ltd, Stephen George + Partners (SGP) designed and delivered the last of the three new Research & Development units at Space City. Developed with Leicester City Council and Wilten Construction, the buildings provide adaptable units with a strong, cohesive aesthetic. Docks 3 and 4 offer office-style spaces, while Dock 5 includes open mezzanine levels for light industrial use.
Sustainability was central to the design, with a ‘fabric first’ approach to reduce CO2 emissions and renewable energy provided by PV panels. The BWB Energy Statement recorded a 101.11% reduction in regulated CO2 emissions, exceeding national and local targets and aligning with the UKGBC Net Zero Carbon Buildings Framework.
This award recognises the collaborative effort of Leicester City Council, BWB Consulting Ltd, Brackley Property Developments Ltd, Summers-Inman and Wilten Construction in delivering modern, energy-efficient units that support Leicester’s regeneration and sustainability goals.
