SGP Architects Lead Seamless Expansion of Advanced Manufacturing Facility at Prologis Park, Coventry

Stephen George + Partners (SGP) is proud to have spearheaded the expansion of an advanced manufacturing facility for their client Copley Point Capital at Prologis Park, Coventry. The building is occupied by a specialist in advance electronic control systems and air suspension components for the automotive and ancillary industries.
SGP was originally appointed as the architects for the existing warehouse by Prologis, completed in 2013. SGP was once again trusted by Copley Point Capital to lead the design and delivery of a significant new extension, further enhancing the building’s role as a state-of-the-art manufacturing base.
The Tenant has operated from the original facility since its completion in 2013 and the expansion was commissioned to provide additional capacity and improved support functions for their growing operations. Copley Point Capital appointed SGP as Lead Architects, CDM Principal Designer, and Building Regulations Principal Designer (BRPD) for the operational expansion.
Drawing on SGP’s historical knowledge of the site and deep expertise in the advanced manufacturing sector, the team was able to quickly understand and refine the client’s evolving needs. This enabled SGP to navigate the statutory approvals efficiently and deliver a high-quality solution within a tight 8-month on-site programme, all while maintaining uninterrupted operations at the active facility.
The project incorporates a seamless extension to the original building, maintaining architectural consistency while adapting and expanding key operational areas. The extension supports increased manufacturing activity, enhances ancillary facilities and achieved a BREEAM ‘Very Good’ rating.
Michael O’Farrell, Principal Architect at SGP said: “The project incorporates an extension that seamlessly reflects the same appearance, improves, adapts, and expands existing manufacturing operations and ancillary facilities such as parking and welfare facilities”.
The development was delivered in two phases: the first provided a new access road, improving logistics and site circulation. The second phase involved construction of the main extension and the addition of 41 new car parking spaces, five of which are designated for electric vehicle charging, supporting both employee convenience and environmental responsibility.
Concludes Tariq Khan, Studio Director at SGP: “This project is a great example of what can be achieved through clarity of vision, responsiveness, and technical precision. It demonstrates our team’s ability to translate complex manufacturing needs into high-performance design and delivery, with minimal disruption to live operations. Our integrated services, from architectural design to principal designer roles, were key to delivering a smooth and efficient process from concept to completion”.
