SGP wins planning for new warehouse near Doncaster

By Lyndon Johnson

Stephen George + Partners (SGP) has worked with Panattoni to win planning permission for Doncaster 420, a 420,000 sqft warehouse with relevant office space, parking and service yard on a 7.45 hectare site at Gateway East, close to the M18, near Doncaster.

Originally planned as two units, with a bisecting spine road already constructed, SGP’s client Panattoni identified a gap in the market for a single larger unit more suited to the current sector requirements.

SGP’s design has applied the established Panattoni brand that provides a market leading industrial specification and a crisp colour palette. Various profiled sheets in contrasting colours are arranged to articulate the walls and break down the mass of the building. The outboard office element provides a focal point and architectural interest. Large glazed elements also reduce the mass whilst allowing additional light to enter the warehouse, and the barrel vaulted roof generates an articulated roof line.

Says Lyndon Johnson, Associate at SGP: “Panattoni is a long-standing client and we are delighted to be working with them again to deliver this prime, modern industrial and storage space in the heart of a key employment area.”

In addition to targeting Net Zero Carbon throughout the build process and after completion, the development has been assessed to achieve BREEAM Excellent, using air source heat pumps for the office areas, amongst other low carbon initiatives. The site has excellent transport links to local centres, including bus routes, footpaths and cycleways.

Panattoni Doncaster 420 is one of the most exciting developments in the North of England, offering a wide range of opportunities for businesses of all types and sizes.
