Harrier Rises
Construction has commenced at DIRFT II on our one million square feet purpose-built unit for Sainsbury’s.
Referred to as Project Harrier in its early stages, the Stephen George & Partners-designed building will allow Sainsbury’s to develop its national distribution operations in an energy-efficient, rail-connected facility.
Located beside the M1 and the West Coast Mainline, the new facility will have both road and rail operations. A new intermodal terminal, which will connect to the existing DIRFT railway sidings, will be installed alongside the building.
As the photo shows, the steel frame is now on site commencing with the erection of the 26.9m high bay. Practical Completion for the base build is due in December with fit-out following-on early in 2015.
Again, a big thank you to the team involved.
