Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge Update
The SGP Team ‘Peaked Too Early’ would like to thank everyone for their support during their Three Peaks Challenge.
The SGP team, ‘Peaked Too Early’ has completed our Three Peaks Challenge. Many thanks to all our supporters, and for anyone waiting to make sure we didn’t chicken out or expire en route – our JustGiving page is still open!
Starting at 6am on Saturday 22 June, the team set off on their challenge, walking 24.5 miles (39.2km) and reaching the first peak, Pen-Y-Ghent, at 08:30.
And the second peak, Whernside, at 14:23.
The weather forecasting projection stone was correct and luckily it was still there!
The team reached the third peak, Ingleborough, at 18:05. By this time we were tired, and Steve resorted to sliding down on his bum wherever possible as his poor old knees had gone.
The team have done amazingly, completing the walk within 12 hours and raising £635 to date. Thank you to all those who have donated! For those who would like to help us raise more money towards the Butterfly Appeal for a new maternity bereavement suite at York Hospital, there’s still time. The team’s JustGiving page is still open; visit: https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/andrew-hinchliffe4
We would also like to take this opportunity to thank Maya and the organisers at Kuta for providing drinks and snacks throughout the challenge.
The team captured this rare footage of a magnificent Steve Batson storming the last 10 yards of the Challenge [click here to view].
