SGP Leeds Visit to Veolia, Leeds and Energy Recycling Facility
SGP, as an IHEEM Affiliate, organised a visit for IHEEM Yorkshire to the Veolia Leeds Recycling and Energy Recovery Facility on Monday 1 April 2019.
IHEEM are The Institute of Healthcare Engineering and Estate Management which is one of the UK’s largest specialist Institute for the Healthcare Estates Sector, devoted to developing careers, provision of education and training, and registering engineers.
We found the visit extremely interesting to see the raw energy and engineering at work and how sustainability can enhance the built environment with Europe’s largest green living wall where birds also nest.

Interestingly, the facility is also looking, with Leeds City Council, to install a heat exchanger to recover heat from the steam produced to generate electricity that will be used in a new district heating system serving local public buildings.
