Geoff Ward, Partner at Stephen George + Partners, has a bit of a track record of building bed decorations for the Great Knaresborough Bed Race – a good few of them winning Best Dressed Bed. The Lions Club of Knaresborough (who organise Bed Race) asked if Geoff would build them a replacement for their Santa Sleigh which, after 10 years of sterling service, had seen better days.

The sleigh made its debut at the Christmas Light Switch On at Friday’s Bright Night celebration, making headlines in the Harrogate Advertiser pictured here (www.harrogateadvertiser.co.uk). The sleigh is now being primped for a stint at the town’s Christmas Market at the weekend and will then tour the streets of the town in the run-up to Christmas as part of the Lions’ annual charity money collection. The sleigh is built on a caravan chassis using a lot of treated timber and plywood, the lights and sound system are powered by a trio of caravan batteries under Santa’s seat!

SGP kindly donated the considerable quantity of paint necessary to waterproof the sleigh and the reindeers.
