Norwich airport lies on the East coast and provides mainly Commercial flights to Europe, industry support for oil and gas platforms, and aviation maintenance operations. The airport has expansion plans along with providing airside operational development for existing tenants and air livery. The runway is a cat 4D and would allow future capacity for airside development. The airport is situated just North of the City, and is well serviced with the recently completed Northern Distributor road (A1270).
Our phase 1 project includes a new double hangar for two Boeing 737/Airbus 320s, along with a new maintenance workshop. This is being built currently on operational airside land. The site sits directly next to an active Heliport, which services oil rigs and gas platforms, and has direct apron access.
The hangar is for one occupier who has requested an open plan interior, and livery for two Boeing 737 craft. This means a double pitched structure rests on a large central truss maintaining clear space below, where maintenance access can be provided from one craft to the other.
The workshop will also be fitted out with paint rooms and machinery to provide maintenance to a large Commercial airline fleet. Norwich airport continues to grow its maintenance abilities and is attracting further European tenants.
