Furlong House Planning Application

26th January 2011

Stephen George & Partners have submitted a full planning application, on behalf of Davidsons Developments Ltd, to Nottingham City Council for the redevelopment of the prominent Furlong House site on Queens Drive, Nottingham

The proposed development responds directly to the Southside Regeneration aspirations of creating a ‘new business district which meets the demand for A-grade office accommodation’. The proposals are for the demolition of the existing, much outdated Furlong House offices, to be replaced with a new high quality 178,000 sqft office complex that integrates with the public realm, with landscaped courtyard spaces and a café.

In response to the context and location, the site massing steps up, culminating with the most prominent frontage and massing along Queens Drive and Castle Bridge Road; this being identified as a potential landmark or gateway into Nottingham’s city centre.

It is the aim of the proposal to achieve a BREEAM rating of “Excellent”. To support this, the scheme uses state-of-the-art technology to harness and recover the constant source of surplus heat generated from the adjacent Data Centre complex, also refurbished by Stephen George & Partners.
