Sainsburys Prologis RFI DIRFT

Daventry, UK

Designed by Stephen George & Partners LLP, Prologis UK Ltd signed a lease agreement for a one million square feet (92,902 sqm) purpose-built distribution centre at the Daventry International Rail Freight Terminal (DIRFT II) with Sainsbury’s Supermarkets Ltd in November 2012.

92,902 sqm purpose-built distribution centre with 26m high bay element.

The new building allows Sainsbury’s to develop its national distribution operations in an energy-efficient, rail-connected facility.

Provides Sainsbury’s with a central location to support their growing merchandise business and act as an important addition to the logistics network.

Located beside the M1 and the West Coast Mainline, the new facility has both road and rail operations.

A new intermodal terminal, which connects to the existing DIRFT railway sidings, is installed alongside the building.

The distribution centre was designed by Stephen George & Partners to achieve BREEAM ‘Very Good’ accreditation and the best possible EPC rating for its size.

A significant investment in a strategic rail-connected site which meets Sainsbury’s requirements to provide a facility that meets the company’s operational and CSR needs.

Principal Contractor VolkerFitzpatrick commenced on site in early 2013 and the facility was completed on site in January 2015.
