SusCon is the Winner of the BREEAM Award 2012 for Further Education

22nd March 2012

SusCon, our sustainable construction training and research centre delivered for a public/private partnership consisting of Prologis, Dartford Borough Council and North West Kent College, has won the Further Education BREEAM Award 2012. An example facility designed to demonstrate environmental technologies, sustainable building materials and techniques, SusCon was designed and constructed using a methodology developed with Prologis.

The SusCon building, located at The Bridge in Dartford, has achieved BREEAM ‘Outstanding’ accreditation with A Final Certificate assessment of 89.58% and the Award recognises the extraordinary achievement of the building.

“SusCon is a forerunner for cost-effective, green buildings of the future” said Simon Cox, First Vice President at Prologis. “Through SusCon we have been able to show that the fundamental principles of sustainability can be applied across many different building types.”

SusCon has also been shortlisted for the Guardian Sustainable Business Awards 2012, the OAS Development Awards 2012 and the RICS South East Awards 2012. In 2011, the building won the National LABC Building Excellence – Best Sustainable Award and the RIBA East Midlands Low Carbon Award.
