Loughborough Grammar School Physics Building Wins Award

16th November 2012

Loughborough Grammar School Physics Building has won the Small Scheme of the Year Award at the ProCon Leicestershire Property and Construction Awards 2012.

The award was presented to Stephen George & Partners at the annual ceremony, which was attended by around six hundred people associated with the construction industry in Leicestershire.

The award recognises the success of the project in achieving extremely high levels of user satisfaction, completing within budget and six weeks ahead of programme.

The existing CLASP building was stripped back to the steel frame; sections of the first floor were removed to enable new stairs to be inserted in order to reorganise the circulation to make it safe to operate; new teaching laboratories were constructed within the frame and the whole was clad with a new external wall of insulated render and curtain walling, made distinctive by the use of coloured glass panels.
