Excitement for SGP with dual award nominations for Waterfront House

The practice’s new Leicester office is a finalist in the ProCon Leicestershire Awards as well as being shortlisted in the National Brick Awards
2nd September 2019

Excitement is growing at SGP with Waterfront House in the running for two notable awards. The practice’s new Leicester office is a finalist in the ProCon Leicestershire Awards as well as being shortlisted in the National Brick Awards. These nominations come on the heels of Waterfront House winning one of the LJCC Merit Awards for Craftmanship.

Waterfront House has been shortlisted in the Commercial category of the National Brick Awards. With a record 350+ entries, the awards celebrate the best examples of clay brick in the built environment through an array of exemplary projects from leading architects, housebuilders, developers and contractors. The judges will be visiting each shortlisted project before winners are announced at an award ceremony at the Royal Lancaster London on 13th November 2019.

SGP’s entry celebrates the subtle uses of brick in the office’s façade:

“…the ‘art and craft’ of brickwork detailing has been used to good effect. ‘English Bond’ being used within recessed panels with projecting solid brick headers, drawing attention to the bond and creating dramatic patternation. Lintels with brick faces and soffits were used over openings.”

The ProCon Leicestershire Awards are the county’s biggest celebration of the built environment and the people who develop, design and build excellent developments. SGP’s Waterfront House is a finalist for the Small Non-Residential Scheme of the Year Award 2019. Winners are chosen by the ProCon membership and a panel of judges, with the latter having visited Waterfront House on Thursday 8th August. Winners will be announced at a lavish dinner at the King Power Stadium on 14th November.

Along with these achievements, Waterfront House has won one of the LJCC Merit Awards for Craftsmanship 2019, in an entry submitted by nmcn. The Leicestershire Joint Consultative Committee for the Building Industry (LJCC) annual Merit Awards for Craftsmanship celebrate excellence of workmanship on projects in the counties of Leicestershire and Rutland. The awards will be presented at a dinner at College Court in Leicester on 3rd October 2019.
