A Shed Load of Beer

30th June 2014

Recently completed at New Raynesway in Derby is this 60,000 sqm, 15m high unit for logistics specialist Kuehne and Nagel. This enables K&N to fulfil their distribution agreement with Dutch brewing giant Heineken. They required that their warehouse be fully stocked with beer in time for the consumption of the World Cup viewing public.

The winning team line up consists of Stephen George & Partners, Developer Goodman and Contractor Winvic.

The building is located alongside the River Derwent on the former Courtaulds chemical works site following extensive remediation of the heavily contaminated land and infrastructure works which included major highway improvements to the A6 and construction of a new river crossing.

This building was a reserved matters planning application. Masterplanned by Stephen George & Partners, the outline permission for the 100 acre major regeneration of which this unit is part was granted in 2007. We currently have registered with Derby City Council a further reserved matters application for a similar 50,000 sqm distribution unit alongside, and anticipate approval soon.
