Stephen George and Partners were appointed by Loughborough Endowed Schools to design a modern music school, working with engineers from ARUP.

The 1,700m2 building is centrally located within the school campus with a full range of facilities dedicated to the teaching of music, including classrooms, ensemble rooms, recording studio and a recital hall.

The building is designed in two distinct curved elements separated by a glazed atrium street allowing daylight and sunshine into the heart of the building. The structure is load bearing masonry with exposed glulam beams; the building is naturally lit and ventilated with solar shading to the south facing classrooms. External materials include insulated render system, facing block work, slate and standing seam zinc roof. The building is currently under construction with completion expected by summer 2006.
