Opened by Her Majesty the Queen in 1996, the
English Centre and Drama School was the first of two award
winning schemes designed by Stephen George & Partners.
An appropriate architectural response was
required to integrate the new facilities into the quadrangle
and existing listed buildings, whilst at the same time creating
individuality and character. Careful planning, detailing and
choice of materials, with the introduction of new forms where
appropriate, achieved the desired architectural response.
