The objective of the competition brief was to address the current lack of a clear identity, perceived quality and community involvement within Further Education institutions.
Ours was a modular concept to provide flexibility to accommodate future alterations to the college. Circulation areas were developed to become a place for meetings or exhibitions. Integral facilities for the community were incorporated as common spaces are shared and merge with other areas of the development. The facilities are open, clear and inviting without clear segregation. Participation spreads to all who wish to use the building. Therefore, the college becomes a social focal point which aims to resurrect the lost streets of the local community. |
